Our Retreat Mission is to inspire men to take responsibility for their spiritual lives and develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. What better way to do that than to spend a weekend with fellow Christ centered men listening to 5 inspiring speakers, having good conversations in breakout sessions, during communal meals, or over late-night chats, coffee, tea and desserts!

The retreat is structured to foster the encounter with ordinary people sharing stories and experiences of trying to live the Gospel amidst the challenges of the modern world. It’s a simple but moving experience. It is also a very casual atmosphere and you may share in the discussion as much or as little as you’d like – or not at all, if that is your preference.

Mount Alvernia Retreat Center

             

Mount Alvernia Retreat Center is a Roman Catholic Retreat Center, a ministry of the Franciscan Friars (OFM) of the Province of the Immaculate Conception with headquarters in New York City. The Center conducts and hosts spiritual programs for persons of all faiths, although its major focus is Roman Catholic spirituality. It has served the community since 1968. Located in the village of Wappingers Falls, NY, the Center has 204 acres of land overlooking the Hudson Valley in Dutchess County.

Our Mt. Alvernia is named after the mountain in Tuscany, Italy–La Verna which was given to St. Francis by Count Orlando of Chiusi della Verna to be used as a hermitage.  The Franciscan sanctuary remains in use today. It is here that St. Francis received the Sacred Stigmata or the wounds of Christ.
